ISN'T TIME RUNNING OUT FOR THE WORLD'S MOST FEROCIOUS TOP CAT..???

The time is running out for the world’s top cat.., A treasure of Asia..!

The tigers are the very wild animals and their habitat is the very evergreen tropical forests and they always make themselves available very near to the consumable water resource.

The need of the hour is to save these tigers from getting extinct. A recent study by students of ecology shows that the tigers are killed for the very silly reasons like the body parts of the tiger are used for manufacturing of the traditional medicines, the tiger’s skin are sold by the poachers for the good money that they are in need of and the worst thing is that the bone of the tiger and other animals are used in the wine products that are sold in Asian continent.

Besides all these reasons, the tigers population is on a decreasing magnitude because of their loss of habitat that is occupied by mankind, the prey of the tiger is also  on a reducing scale .The forest area is narrowed down day by day and this declined the presence of tiger which is the world’s top most cat that should be celebrated for it can’t be lived with!! At this time I blog, one of my friend says the Global warming and other ecological changes are also responsible for the decline in the population of the tiger.

For all the above reasons, we can simply blame ourselves but then when we think about the conflicts between the man and the wild, the wild enters into the space of man that was the space of the wild long ago..! What shall we do to tackle this? It is very obvious that we can’t get ourselves relocated without disturbing the animals but at the least we could discourage and avoid poaching them for the well being of the mankind. ! The very recent conclusion is that the tigers are mostly killed for the reason of pain killers. I know its good to speak about all these things but think about a ten years from now..! UNIMAGINABLE….!

The change in the mentality of men is the only way to remove the tiger and its subspecies from the critically endangered list.!!

Amazing birds with teeth....-a tour!!!

Do birds have teeth…?what .? sounds funny...Thats true there are birds with teeth.......

There are about 9865 species of birds today alive, according to IUCN , of which about 1200 , "a quite alarming number" of birds are considered threatened with extinction. The feathers are very unique to birds even though nocturnal bats have..The highlight is that the birds use the feathers to protect themselves from the harmful UV rays. Indeed I mean that the birds are not the only animals that are capable of flight. So, its common that the bird shave feathers but TEETH..Sounds pretty but then most ecologists say that the teeth and tongue are for mammals not for the birds. But researchers and bird lovers have identified birds with tongue and teeth.Wow what a surprise….!

1.       The Grey leg goose ---It is common in the parts of Europe and western Asia. The  grayleg has a bark that’s unimaginable and awesome. It is one of the species to which the African-Eurasian Migratory Birds’ Agreement applies! These birds have Tomia , the tooth that are found along the outer edge of their beaks and they help in picking and clipping their food.

2.
The devilish Grin ,a nice white bird has a tooth like dentition neatly arranged than for a Greyleg goose..Dont you see..?

The Toucan chew the bird with a very enlarged beak that has a badly strongest teeth makes it look even wilder!!!

So what.. the birds had teeth I mean from the very ancient Archaeopteryx to Pelagornithidae. But now as centuries  rolled on birds are without teeth…Researchers say that it helps the going air borne  but there begs the question losing teeth doesnot reduce much of its weight…what do you say……??

PRIDE OF KASHMIR- THE DACHIGAM

The Dachigam is one of the greatest assets and it is a poetry of ecology. The Dachigam would speak for centuries undoubtedly. The Dachigam is in the most uneasy state of Kashmir and is an incredible treasure too…The park is in 141 sq.km area at an altitude of 1690m to 4200m.

It is a home for Hangul, Himalayan black bear, Brown bear, Jackal, Red fox, Yellow-throated marten, Himalayan weasel, Smooth otter, Serow, etc.,It has beautiful birds like Golden Oriole, Wastails and woodpeckers. The rat snake, Pit viper are sheltered here in Dachigam. The Dachigam National park belonged to the King of Kashmir who announced it "hunting preserved". For this, he has removed ten surrounding villages and hence the name Dachigam. Earlier the wild park had wild pigs more in number but it went locally extinct in 1991. When the King’s rule  ended, the forest was handed over to State Fisheries Dept., and this was the beginning that the forest started losing its worth, pride and beauty…Now, the concern for the forest by the ecologists and activists is because the park is the last home for the remaining number of the Hanguls.

But, unfortunately the large scale grazing by animals and lopping by nomadics is disturbing the landscape and the man –animal conflicts are on a higher magnitude day by day! The wonder is that the famous Stags of Kashmir dropped to even lesser than 200...!The nature and wildlife lovers visit the park which is open all year round! But preferably it shall be visited in the months of June-August as the Upper Dachigam will quitely be inaccessible in winter. We can enjoy the birding art in Summer and September and October can be preferred to spot the rarest of the rarest Hangul!
Isn't now June to August....!Well, catch the awesome Dachigam after obtaining a permit form the office of the chief wildlife warden at Srinagar...!

The Dachigam--a visual treat..!
